Personal note regarding Joplin, Missouri

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Joplin, Missouri and the surrounding areas after the May 22, 2011 tornado .  Having spent 4 years in Joplin during my residency training, I developed many friends and mentors who still live there.  Several of my mentors lost their medical practices and of course, one hospital is no longer usable. The lives of many people may never be the same, but the spirit of the people in Joplin is amazing! I hope and pray they find the strength to rebuild the town they love.
